Me and my my friends are in a band and weve been playing together for a bout a month now. and we are wanting to make a demo to to get some gigs. But the questions is: Should we rush the creative process and get a better sound quality (go to a recording studio) Or Take our time and sacrifice expertise. (buy a cheap 4 track recorder) Now i kinda wanna get a 4 track. but my bassist is bent on going in a studio. what do you guys think??? The 4 track im planning to get is here: www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=011210072939149152023185247577/search/g=home/detail/base_id/47679

totally, the only thing 4 tracks are good for is just recording riffs or acoustic songs that only have 2-3 tracks tops for a band, youll need more id say go to the studio or save for the 8 track recorder but dont rush into the studio, make sure each song is EXACTLY how you want it, or youll wind up doing the old "I WISH I WOULDVE..."

ok....
ok guys so you think i should get an 8 track eh? well could anybody suggest a good, affordable, simple, 8 track?
not that it matters but here was my plan for a 4 track:
1st i would plug a mic into track 1 and put it between the bass and guitar amps. and then stick a mic into track 2 and put it near the drums. and record the 2 at the same time.
Then i would use track 3 for an extra guitar part or sound effects or something like that....
then i would use a Y adapter and put 2 mics into the 4th one. give one to the singer and sit one up for backing vocals.
then i would twealk the knobs and somehow record it to PC where i could put it on the internet and put it on CD.
But it will probably be MUCH easier with 8 track....
