How do you make your slap sound punchy?? well..i was trying to play Flea's bass solo...i kind of have the speed but...it doesn't have that strong solid punchy sound(not no punchy sound, but it doesn't sound like the mp3 i dl off the net). Is there some special effect or technique?

not really, it's just the kind of bass he has. it has a really low action, and that makes it sound more percussive.

i really doesnt have to do with the bass. it has to do with the eq. what kind of bass do you have? what kind of amp do you have?

yeah slap in between the pickup and the neck. so in that lil spot it should give it a more pucny sound and aslo boost the bass on your amp ail

Post what>?
Fleas sound is a combo of bass/amp/ and attack. In other works he practiced for a long while and developed his style.
Sounds like GK equipment to me but I am probly wrong about that.

well punchiness can come from a lot of things....its not always just the bass.... try selecting the neck pickup on your bass.... also, try shaping your eq like a U, but dont cut the midrange totally....leave enough so that it will still cut through and be punctual.... if all else fails, tighten your strings with the truss rod...

So if i had a parametric eq, i could just turn the bass up turn down the mids then turn the highs up?
